Scheduling Abstractions for Local Search
نویسندگان
چکیده
Comet is an object-oriented language supporting a constraintbased architecture for local search. This paper presents a collection of abstractions, inspired by constraint-based schedulers, to simplify scheduling algorithms by local search in Comet. The main innovation is the computational model underlying the abstractions. Its core is a precedence graph which incrementally maintains a candidate schedule at every computation step. Organized around this precedence graph are differentiable objects, e.g., resources and objective functions, which support queries to define and evaluate local moves. The abstractions enable Comet programs to feature declarative components strikingly similar to those of constraint-based schedulers and search components expressed with highlevel modeling objects and control structures. Their benefits and performance are illustrated on two applications: minimizing total weighted tardiness in a job-shop and cumulative scheduling.

متن کاملOptimality of the flexible job shop scheduling system based on Gravitational Search Algorithm
The Flexible Job Shop Scheduling Problem (FJSP) is one of the most general and difficult of all traditional scheduling problems. The Flexible Job Shop Problem (FJSP) is an extension of the classical job shop scheduling problem which allows an operation to be processed by any machine from a given set. The problem is to assign each operation to a machine and to order the operations on the machine...

متن کاملGENETIC AND TABU SEARCH ALGORITHMS FOR THE SINGLE MACHINE SCHEDULING PROBLEM WITH SEQUENCE-DEPENDENT SET-UP TIMES AND DETERIORATING JOBS
This paper introduces the effects of job deterioration and sequence dependent set- up time in a single machine scheduling problem. The considered optimization criterion is the minimization of the makespan (Cmax). For this purpose, after formulating the mathematical model, genetic and tabu search algorithms were developed for the problem. Since population diversity is a very important issue in ...
متن کاملA New model for integrated lot sizing and scheduling in flexible job shop problem
In this paper an integrated lot-sizing and scheduling problem in a flexible job shop environment with machine-capacity-constraint is studied. The main objective is to minimize the total cost which includes the inventory costs, production costs and the costs of machine’s idle times. First, a new mixed integer programming model, with small bucket time approach, based onProportional Lot sizing and S...
